We are so excited about next year, and a special welcome to those of you who will be joining us for the first time!
Some answers to common questions about the rosters:

I can't find my name, but I want to be in choir!

Don't panic! Occasionally schedules don't get processed the way you intended but we can fix it! We only posted students who were on the official class rosters from the counselors. You can contact your counselor and request to be placed in choir. You should also send us an email so we can follow-up for you and get the issue resolved as soon as possible.

I didn't get a chance to audition in the Spring, when can I do that?

Students on our rosters that are new to our program have been placed in the appropriate choirs. We will still listen to all non-auditioned students during the first weeks of school to make sure that you are in the right place.

The choir that I'm in won't fit in my schedule.

We will do all that we can to make your schedule work; however, keep in mind that we do not promote students to an advanced group due to schedule conflicts. Our wonderful counselors can get pretty creative with schedules, so don't give up - we want you to sing!

What determined which choir I was placed in?

Student placement was determined by several factors:

  • Sightreading Ability

  • Vocal Tone

  • Individual Contribution

    • Listens in rehearsals to teachers and other students, is concentrated/focused

    • Respects school property / choir rules

    • Choral skills in rehearsals and in concerts

    • Prepared and on time to rehearsals/performances

    • Advanced Opportunities (All-Region, Solo & Ensemble, Campus Musical, etc.)

In addition to your individual contribution and abilities, the department takes into account what will create the best learning and musical experience for all students. Ensemble balance, individual ability and commitment, and an overall supportive, positive, and successful day-to-day experience is considered when crafting ensembles.

For Chorale, RHS Choir's Varsity ensemble, only 10th-12th graders were considered this year, and an attempt was made to make the ensemble just a little more leaner and meaner by limiting membership overall. An exception will be made for any incoming freshmen who earn a spot in one of our A Cappella ensembles, Sting or Walk the Line.
