Mrs. Stephens is a third generation Texan from Tyler and has taught voice lessons for over 40 years. She grew up in a musical family and has sung as far back as she can remember. Mrs. Stephens has a Bachelor's degree in theatre and music from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, and a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Mrs. Stephens has performed with the Dallas Opera, the Lyric Opera of Dallas and the Salzburg Opera in Salzburg, Austria as well as sung with the Dallas Symphony Chorus and the Dallas Summer Musicals.
Students of Mrs. Stephens have consistently been placed in All-Region Choirs as well as All-State Choirs, and various honor choirs nationally and statewide, and have earned college scholarships ($1 Million in the last 6 years) and leading roles in musical theater. Currently, Mrs. Stephens lives in a 112 year old house in Forney, with her husband, Brad and 3 cats and 2 chickens. She has 2 sons, Jody Stephens, who is a paramedic with Medstar in Ft. Worth, and Justin Smith who lives in Denver and is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas and works in quality assurance computer programming. Both boys sing and play instruments but have not taken voice lessons from their mother.
